NEWS FROM OTHER CLASSES

 

Alex Ward has advised SMOKE SIGNALS that the Central Class of ’65 has
scheduled their class reunion for the 4 th weekend in July, the 22 nd and 23 rd.
Complete details will be published as they become available.

 
MEMPHIS NEWS

Former Memphis mayor Wyeth Chandler died Nov. 11 in Bartlett after suffering
a massive heart attack. Chandler served as Councilman, then mayor from 1972-1982.
He retired during his third term, when he was appointed Circuit Court judge.
He retired from the court in 1996.

Former sheriff A.C. Gilless, died Nov. 25, at his home, after a long battle with
lung cancer. Gilless, 70, had been Shelby County’s longest serving Sheriff. He
served 43 years in the department, 12 as sheriff.
