                                                  According to Wikipedia

Hanukkah (Hebrew: חנוכה‎, also spelled Chanukah), also known as the Festival of Lights, is an eight-day Jewish holiday beginning on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may fall anytime from late November to late December. It celebrates the re-kindling of the Temple menorah at the time of the Maccabee rebellion.

The festival is observed in Jewish homes by the kindling of lights on each night of the holiday: One on the first night, two on the second, and so on.

CRUISE UPDATE - By the slimiest of margins, the New Orleans Cruise edged out the second place finisher, the cruise leaving out of Miami.  More info will be forth coming, so be prepared to commit. Our goal is to have a minimum of 40 people signed up to sail from the Crescent City on June 23rd. If Leonard is successful in arranging transportation on the City of New Orleans on June 22nd, we will be spending one night in a New Orleans hotel or in a French Quarter bar; it’s your call.

HELPFUL HINTS    From Smoke Signals’ HOMES editor - Mike Blackwell

The US Postal service sent out a message to all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to keep yellow jackets away.

1.  It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.  It also repels mice.
2. Spread sheets around foundation areas, or in trailers, or cars that are sitting and it keeps mice      from entering your vehicle
3. It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened too often.

4. It repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when outdoors during mosquito season.
5. Eliminate static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
6. Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from resettling.

7. Dissolve soap scum from shower doors.  Clean with a sheet of Bounce.
8. To freshen the air in your home - Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a drawer or hang in the closet.
9. Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.
10. Prevent thread from tangling.  Run a threaded needle through a sheet of Bounce before beginning to sew.

Madison, WI policeman had a perfect spot to watch for speeders, but wasn't getting many.  Then he discovered the problem - a 12 year old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read "RADAR TRAP AHEAD."  The officer then found a young accomplice down the road with a sign reading "TIPS" and a bucket full of money.

        HENRY’S CORNER

Speaking of Frank Sinatra, Jr., we were, weren’t we? On Dec. 9, 1963, the 19 year-old son of the ‘Chairman of the Board, was kidnapped from a Lake Tahoe hotel and taken to California. He was held for three days and released, unharmed, after Frank Sr. paid a paltry $240,000 ransom. The three kidnappers, two age 23 and the third, 42 had originally considered targeting Bob Hope’s son, Tony, but rejected the idea as “Unpatriotic” because of the elder Hope’s work entertaining troops. 23 year old Barry Keenan, the kingpin of the plot, had attended high school with Nancy Sinatra and was familiar with other celebrities.
The original plot called for Frank Jr. to be snatched from the Ambassador Hotel in L.A. on Nov. 22nd, where the victim would be staying to attend the USC vs. UCLA ball game. However, the assassination of President Kennedy preempted that plan. The kidnappers were arrested and most of the ransom recovered. Though all received length prison sentences, Keenan served only 4 ½ years while both fellow conspirators served 3 ½.
